Home Remedies for Piles During Pregnancy
Over half of us will suffer from piles in our lifetimes. Those swollen blood vessels can really play havoc with our daily routine and our self-confidence. When suffering from piles you can sometimes exhaust almost every search engine, desperately trying to find a cure. Piles during pregnancy are no exception. It’s supposed to be the most rewarding, heartwarming time of a woman’s life but instead, you are uncomfortable, itchy and in pain. There is not necessarily a cure for piles during pregnancy but there are a few home remedies that may help ease the symptoms.
Sitz baths are a great way to ease piles symptoms during pregnancy. Sitz baths are usually plastic, shallow baths designed for daily personal hygiene. Generally, they are used to cleanse the perineum when filled with warm water. However, ensure the water is not boiling hot as this will aggravate the symptoms further. The water will clean and soothe your piles, which is perfect if you are suffering from exceptionally itchy ones. Another benefit of the sitz bath is that the warm water will help relax your muscles and reduce your swelling, this is useful if you are finding that your piles become painful after going to the toilet.
Another home remedy which may help ease your piles during pregnancy is the use of witch hazel. If you dab the witch hazel gently onto the piles, and any other unpleasant surrounding areas, then any itching you are suffering from should be eased. A 1% hydrocortisone cream might also act as a home remedy for piles during pregnancy. The cream should only be used on external piles as it should never be placed inside your anus. However, ensure you consult your GP beforehand, especially if you are pregnant.
