Mr Tas Qureshi
Mr Qureshi was appointed as a Consultant Laparoscopic Surgeon in 2008. He was responsible for securing the funding for the Laparoscopic Theatre at Poole and set up a successful Enhanced Recovery Programme, which aids quicker recovery after surgery.
He has also been appointed as a National Trainer in Laparoscopic Surgery, as part of a Department of Health run programme (LAPCO). This role requires him to teach and assess other Consultant Surgeons in the United Kingdom, to ensure they are safe to perform laparoscopic surgery. More recently Mr Qureshi has been invited to teach laparoscopic surgery internationally. He is part of a faculty which teaches Consultant Surgeons in other countries to perform safe laparoscopic surgery.
His general surgical practice is almost exclusively laparoscopic, including bowel resections for cancer and benign disease such as hernia and gall bladder surgery. He was invited to form part of the Dorset Endometriosis Centre, now recognised as one of the few accredited units in the country. He has introduced Doppler guided haemorrhoidectomy to the Nuffield Health Bournemouth Hospital as the latest treatment for bleeding and prolapsing piles.
Laparoscopic surgery, colorectal surgery, enhanced recovery.
